MFS Eyewear Review and Giveaway!
My son dropped my camera, and now it's on the fritz, otherwise this review would be PACKED of the awesome pics I got of the kids in their new shades! (Ack- you have no idea how frustrated I am!!) If I can get Bri to fix it, I will post them asap!
When you think about sun safety, you make sure you have the sunscreen, the umbrella in case it gets too hot, the water to keep your body hydrated, and sometimes even get the UPF rated clothing and bathing suits to help protect your little one's precious body. Most toddlers (and young kids) have a pair of sunglasses, but they're typically those cheap-o princess/action figure types you get at a large mega-store. The glasses are off their faces, covered in prints or scratches (because throwing them at each other in the car on the way to the beach is so much more fun!), and the arm breaks a couple days later.. if you're lucky.
At the beach you often see parents wearing their sunglasses and kids squinting, because their glasses were falling off, they got frustrated with them, and are now are officially part of the sand castle they are building. The American Academy of Ophthalmology says, "Like your skin, your eyes never recover from UV exposure," and, "exposure to bright sunlight increases the risk of developing cataracts, macular degeneration, and growths on the eye, including malignancies."
82% of parents encourage children to wear sunscreen, but only 32% do the same for sunglasses. It’s time to take seriously the health risk sunlight poses to our kids’ eyes. Do you protect your childrens eyes like you do their skin? I'm not trying to scare you, but protecting your kids eyes now is super important. I have horrible eyesight, wear contacts, and have difficulties going from bright places into dark or indoor atmospheres. I remember being that squinty-eyed kid at the beach (I grew up on an Island, 4 blocks away from the water), and never wore my sunglasses.. unless I was inside, acting like a movie or a rock star. I digress..
When I received the adorable pink daisy Toddler Shades for Abbie, and the navy blue "Xtreme Shades" for Alex, I was elated! We live in Florida, and aside from the sun being HOT, it is BRIGHT. Fighting with my kids to put their sunglasses on is a never ending battle! These shades from MFS EYEWEAR block 100% of harmful UV rays, are shatterproof and impact resistant, and have a comfortable, adjustable band to keep them ON and in place. For those of you that really don't *know* my family yet- in English- these shades were made for my kids! They are so hard on their things, and since we've gotten them they've been tossed, stepped on, kicked (at a soccer game), you name it, they've done it!
Alex puts them on, and leaves them on the whole day and doesn't even realize he's wearing them. Abbie took a little bit of an adjustment period to get used to them, but again- she NEVER wore sunglasses, unless she was a "movie star" inside. Now, everytime we go outside, the both of them are racing for their shades before we leave!
